The Nishiwaki City Okanoyama Art Museum is located in "Japan's Navel Park" at the intersection of the 135 degree east longitude line that defines Japan's standard time and the 35 degree north latitude that crosses the center of Japan from north to south. The building, designed by Arata Isozaki, was completed in June 1984 and opened in October.
